Visiting the National Mall during Covid-19

It has been hard to visit DC because of the coronavirus. Every place that a tourist can go had to close so that more people won’t get sick. It is sad that those places had to close but it was important to close them to keep everyone safe. Now they are starting to open up some of the places that people can visit. They are putting new rules of distancing and masks. Slowly DC is starting to open up again.

The National Museum of African American History and Culture opened recently and people can now enjoy this amazing museum again. To go to this museum people have to wear masks the whole time and must stand away from other people. The museum also made a new rule of one-way paths and guides. All these rules make it safe for people to enjoy the museum. There are also other museums opening like The Smithsonian American Art Museum, The International Spy Museum and many more. Even the National Zoo is open.

Many restaurants and hotels are also opening too. Now people can enjoy good food at DC’s famous restaurants and stay at nice hotels. DC has great choices of places to eat so now tourists can now again eat happily. Also, the parks and gardens and recreation areas are opening too. People can now have fun there if the place they wanted to go is still closed. They are great tourist areas too.

Everyone is very happy to see DC open, and also happy to see they have put new safety rules.

  2. Yes, seeing all these wondrous places open again brings joy and comfort. The question is, how long will they stay open? This could be a very fleeting feeling. With the approach of winter, we could be back to square one-- back in lockdown!
